Abandoned Thrones 👑
In ancient times, there was a king named Ibrahim bin Adham. Although he had every luxury in the world, his heart was never at peace. He often felt a voice in his heart saying, “Ibrahim, you were not created for this.” This thought would come to his mind repeatedly, making him wonder, “Then what was I created for?”
One night, as he was sleeping, he sensed some movement. Upon waking up, he saw people on his roof, who were, in fact, angels. Surprised, Ibrahim asked, “What are you doing on the palace roof?” They replied, “We are searching for our camel.” Astonished, the king said, “How can a camel be on the roof of the palace?” They immediately responded, “Then how can you expect to find peace and God while living in a palace?”
That was the moment when King Ibrahim abandoned his kingdom and set out into the wilderness in search for peace and closeness to God. He became the famous Saint of Balkh.
In the same way, we often ignore the inner voice that calls us to leave our physically comfortable life to find true inner peace. This voice, which comes from our heart specifically to awaken us, remains unheard. We could be much better in our lives, but we constantly suppress this “inner voice”—we neither listen to it nor attain peace.
Is a human being only made for earning, eating, and sleeping? Animals do that too.
Take at least half an hour every day to sit comfortably on your sofa, carpet, or bed with your eyes closed, and think: “What is the purpose of my existence? What work have I come into this world to accomplish?”
You will definitely find an answer from within. Don’t suppress it, please share it with me as well.
